A partire dalla sua fondazione per la Casa del Portello, andare il pi\u00f9 veloce possibile, ma soprattutto pi\u00f9 veloce della concorrenza, \u00e8 stata la filosofia aziendale. Cos\u00ec quando BMW present\u00f2 la Serie 3 nel 1982 in Alfa cominciarono le grandi manovre per il contrattacco. Grandi manovre un po\u2019 azzoppate perch\u00e9 in quel periodo storico ad Arese non si navigava in buone acque dal punto di vista economico e finanziario, tant\u2019\u00e8 che il progetto della futura 75 prese il via basandosi sulla piattaforma della Giulietta, di cui mantiene il pianale e le portiere, ma con un profondo restyling dal punto di vista dell\u2019estetica. In onore ai canoni dell\u2019epoca la linea della nuova 75 era fortemente a cuneo, molto sportiva, anche se manteneva le 4 porte e una buona abitabilit\u00e0 interna. La parentela con la Giulietta le consentiva di avere una buona distribuzione dei pesi anteriore-posteriore che le garantiva una precisione di guida degna delle sue antenate e il motore 1.8 le forniva la potenza sufficiente per rintuzzare le velleit\u00e0 teutoniche. Nessuno si girava vedendola passare per strada, sembrava una normale berlina, tutto il contrario della vecchia GTV6 2.5 che aveva calcato le piste fino ad allora. Ecco allora la nascita della 75 Turbo Evoluzione, che debutt\u00f2 nel 1987 nel neonato FIA WTCC (FIA World Touring Car Championship), conosciuto anche come Campionato Mondiale Turismo. Le regole di questo campionato prevedevano la produzione di un minimo di 500 esemplari per poter far gareggiare le vetture nel WTCC, inoltre, per le vetture dotate di turbocompressore, veniva applicata una regola per bilanciare le potenze con i motori aspirati da 3 litri. Questa formula era un fattore di moltiplicazione assegnato dalla FIA di 1,7, cio\u00e8 si potevano utilizzare solo motori con una cilindrata massima di 1762 cc per non superare il limite di 3000 cc. Per\u00f2 il motore della 75 Turbo 1.8 di serie del 1986 aveva una cilindrata di 1779 cc. e, per superare il problema, in Alfa Romeo ridussero l\u2019alesaggio del cilindro di 0,4 mm cos\u00ec da raggiungere l\u2019obiettivo di diminuzione della cilindrata pari a 1762 cc. Questo intervento rese le pareti dei cilindri pi\u00f9 spesse rendendo il blocco motore pi\u00f9 resistente e consentendo una pi\u00f9 facile messa a punto. Solo uno: Rosso Alfa Pastello A.R. 555. I cerchi? Anche loro rossi da 15 pollici, come le minigonne e gli spoiler: impossibile non notarla. Mentre l\u2019abitacolo era molto raffinato, da vettura di lusso. Un controsenso? No, perch\u00e9 i 500 esemplari della 75 Evoluzione furono assemblati per poi, in buona parte, essere consegnati nelle mani dei team che avrebbero pensato alle trasformazioni per le competizioni sostituendo completamente l\u2019allestimento di serie, come i primi 6 esemplari preparati da Alfa Corse (il reparto che aveva sostituito l\u2019Autodelta) e poi affidati ai piloti ufficiali Alfa Romeo. A quei tempi le soluzioni di controllo elettroniche non esistevano ma sulla 75 Evoluzione la base tecnica c\u2019era tutta, anzi di pi\u00f9, cos\u00ec cominciarono a vedere modelli macinare
