Donne e motori? Gioie e basta

Women and motors? Just Joy

November, 2025

The Manifesto of the 4th Edition of the Photographic Exhibition

The ambassadors of the photographic exhibition support the UN #HeForShe project

“Women and Motors? Pure Joy,” the IV edition is starting. Here are the names of all the female protagonists… and the male protagonists too!

The travelling photographic project “Women and Motors? Just Joy” was launched four years ago and has never stopped growing.

The numbers of its third edition speak for themselves: in just twelve months it was seen by hundreds of thousands of visitors in more than fifty exhibition venues, confirming its position as one of the most significant cultural initiatives in Italy’s automotive world dedicated to the empowerment of women.

DO YOU KNOW THE PROJECT “WOMEN AND MOTORS? JUST JOY”?

Created from the vision and sensitivity of Elisabetta Cozzi, President of Museo Fratelli Cozzi and of Friends of Museo Fratelli Cozzi ETS association, and brought to life through the photography of Camilla Albertini, the exhibition has travelled across Italy in dozens of stages from Maranello to Turin, from Bologna to Rome, from Milan to Imola. Throughout this journey it has carried its message of awareness and respect into institutional, symbolic and popular spaces, both physical and digital: museums, public institutions, schools, universities, international fairs and leading companies. Everywhere it went, it recorded an extraordinary public response and generated media resonance at a national level.

One of the clearest demonstrations of the exhibition’s cultural impact is its ability to reach far beyond physical spaces and influence the digital world as well. Not long ago, searching “donne e motori” (women and motors) on Google Images produced almost exclusively vulgar, stereotypical and disrespectful representations. Today, more than half of the results belong to our photographic project: a concrete sign of a cultural shift beginning to take hold online.

“Women and Motors? Just Joy” is now recognised across Italy as a space for cultural reflection and inclusion. It is a journey that celebrates women’s talent, expertise and passion while also highlighting the shared responsibility of men in building a more equitable future.

Through this project, Museo Fratelli Cozzi reaffirms its role as a cultural reference point for the promotion of gender equality and for the creation of a new vision of the automotive world, one founded on respect, competence and beauty.

THE GUIDING THEME OF THE FOURTH EDITION

Men alongside women” is the theme of the fourth edition of the project “Women and Motors? Just Joy”, which for the first time will feature a man and a woman portrayed together.

The female protagonists, selected for their human, professional and cultural profiles, have each chosen a man to stand beside them, someone recognised as an ally and supporter throughout their professional journey. The aim is to powerfully reinforce the message that gender equality is not a women’s issue, but a shared responsibility and an essential goal for the progress of society as a whole.

Supporting gender balance is not only a matter of justice and inclusion; it is also a strategic driver capable of generating economic growth, fostering innovation and strengthening the country’s competitiveness. In a context marked by demographic decline and the rapid transformations brought by artificial intelligence, the full and valued contribution of women is an indispensable resource for facing the challenges of the future.

After the preview at Milano AutoClassica, Fiera Rho, on 21–22–23 November, the official presentation of the exhibition will take place on 25 November 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at Museo Fratelli Cozzi, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The exhibition will be produced in three copies and will immediately begin its travelling journey.

We extend our thanks to the supporters of the project, our invaluable allies: ACI Storico, ASI, FIVA, LIUC University, and our sponsors Pirelli, LKQ Rhiag, MAWDY Services, Autopromotec and EuroMilano. Our gratitude also goes to the Media Partners who help us spread our message: Quattroruote and Ruoteclassiche.

#HeForShe by UN Women

It has been three years since the birth of this project — three extraordinary years during which the exhibition has travelled across Italy and abroad, reaching institutional spaces as well as everyday places such as schools and libraries. Three years in which “alliances of great social and cultural value” have grown between the women featured and Museo Fratelli Cozzi. A powerful and sincere sense of sisterhood.

These three years have filled us with pride and entrusted us with a renewed responsibility: to keep promoting a culture free from stereotypes, grounded in ethical and respectful communication. And of course, we also had great fun creating the photographs, telling stories of everyday femininity, and collecting countless anecdotes along the way.

We have been working on gender-gap issues since 2008, and when Museo Fratelli Cozzi was founded, we wanted one of the cultural pillars of our work to focus on overcoming stereotypes, combating gender-based violence, and promoting a culture of equal opportunities. It has been a long journey, crowned last year by the support of Hon. Martina Semenzato, President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on Femicide and all forms of gender-based violence.

In 2025, the theme of the fourth edition — “Men alongside women on the path to equality: portraits of alliance, engines of change” — introduces the two major new elements of this year’s project. The women portrayed in Camilla Albertini’s photographs have posed together with men they personally selected for their commitment to actively overcoming the gender gap, affirming that gender equality is a shared responsibility and not a female-only battle.

This theme has also enabled us to receive the patronage of the European Commission and to join the HeForShe programme of UN Women. A recognition that fills us with enthusiasm and responsibility as we continue our journey, fully aware that change is possible and lies in every gesture of our personal and professional lives.

Camilla Albertini

CAMILLA ALBERTINI

Camilla Albertini is a photographer, videographer, illustrator, and journalist. Born in Milan, she graduated in 2017 in Photography from the Istituto Europeo di Design and has since built a wide-ranging freelance career: from studio still life to reportage, from automotive to corporate work, from portraiture to food photography.

She has a strong passion for drawing and visual arts in all their forms. She loves to travel and to capture the essence of places through images that are never conventional, always seeking a refined emotional depth.

With a keen eye and a sensitive heart for women’s issues, she created a reportage on Icelandic women in 2019 and, in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, a photographic exhibition in collaboration with the Museo Fratelli Cozzi featuring portraits of women and automobiles, aimed at challenging the stereotypes traditionally linked to “women and engines.”

Her photographs and articles have been published in the Corriere della Sera (Milan edition) and in magazines such as Quattroruote, Ruoteclassiche, Donna Moderna, Gardenia, and Il Bagno.

In 2021, together with fellow photographer Paolo Carlini, she published the photographic book Italia Coast to Coast with Silvana Editoriale.
