The 100th anniversary of the City of Legnano: also celebrated at the Museum

How we love birthdays! The candles, the atmosphere, the desire to celebrate the past to enthusiastically set out into the future...

A very impressive birthday falls in 2024: that of the City of Legnano, which turns 100 years old. A century to be celebrated in the best possible way, starting with the inaugural event of this eventful celebration.

The stage for the centennial's inaugural event was the Museum itself, where a beautiful Gala Dinner was held on February 13 reserved for members of the Centennial Honor and Organizing Committees and sponsors.

During the evening, the centennial logo, created by Elisabetta Tavalli, winner of a contest among the students of the "Carlo dell'Acqua" High School of Art, was presented. The logo represents the city's monuments connected by a ribbon, which symbolizes a timeline and connects different aspects of city life: the local institution (Palazzo Malinverni), the religious dimension (the Basilica of San Magno), the monument to the Warrior commemorating the famous Battle of Legnano, labor (the smokestack) and Legnano's strategic role in the Middle Ages (the Castle).

HISTORY AT THE CENTER 

The choice of location to celebrate the centennial has a lot to do with history: what better place than a Museum-active custodian of History-to celebrate such an important milestone? We are really proud of it.

During the evening, Mayor Lorenzo Radice welcomed everyone, showcasing the teamwork that involved the city and local associations in creating the commemorative logos and organizing engaging events throughout the year.

"Theimpetus for the Centennial celebration of Legnano Città started from the municipal administration ," Radice said, " but it is only with the contribution of all the living forces of Legnano that this event can be realized. The Centenary is a moment that concerns and calls into play the whole City in its different components; it is an occasion of active participation for the Legnano community, which is invited to contribute ideas and proposals to restore the many souls that represent the true wealth of our Legnano. Thanks, as of now, to those who, in any form, will contribute to the success of this initiative. Thanks to the Fratelli Cozzi Museum, which hosted us for this preview: the Centennial machine has been set in motion and this is the ideal place to start the engines."

Legnano, a city that has been showing off its historical heritage since the Middle Ages, proudly celebrates its first century as a "City." The Fratelli Cozzi Museum, which hosted the start of the celebration, is a tangible symbol of the cultural richness that makes this community unique.

During the evening, Culture and Events Councilor Guido Bragato unveiled the program of celebrations that will be held throughout 2024-what a thrill!
