achille varzi, what a show at the museum!

A theatrical performance at the Museum to celebrate the pilot Achille Varzi, "the lord of Galliate": a great success!

During the event, we retraced the heroic life of the famous pilot of the 1930s, recounting the most curious anecdotes and the most private events.

It was a real success, just look at the photographs of this unforgettable afternoon!

The narrative voice is that of Davide da Fidel, actor and passionate "varzista."

"At the Museum we often use Gustav Mahler's phrase "Tradition is custody of fire, not worship of ashes," and indeed an event like today's fully expresses the meaning of this phrase. Achille Varzi did not have the same notoriety as other drivers, such as his rival Tazio Nuvolari, but he was certainly not to be outdone. His story should be remembered and celebrated because it teaches us passion, courage, determination, failure and the ability to get back up. Today the audience stood listening to Davide Da Fidel in surreal silence, everyone was as if rapt, catapulted into the racing of the 1930s and the madness of the races of those times. More than one person told me they were moved and indeed this story is overwhelming. Its interpreter, Davide Da Fidel was really great and he has accomplished something unforgettable. I sincerely thank him and Mario Fontana of Profumo di Alfa, together we were a great team!"
